Yesterday I enjoyed interaction with fellow Texas blogger Crystal from Budgeting in The Fun Stuff blog. She was guest blogging at a personal finance blog I have followed for the past six months, called GetRichSlowly.org.
On Crystal’s comments, I noticed a reference she made to the Yakezie Network, and how much assistance she received from that group to grow her blog.
So, I headed over to Yakezie to find out what it was all about. Turns out the content there intersects at a place I am interested in (personal finance and lifestyle). There I also read about the “Yakezie Challenge”. The goal of the Yakezie Challenge is to grow your blog through “selflessly promoting others”, something that resonates well with who I am as a person.
I am marking today as the start of my 6 month challenge. The goal is to crack the top 200,000 site rankings on Alexa.com. That will be a tall order, since at present my humble blog is located at number 11,775,772! The method is to selflessly promote others, and to write consistently. I have already set a goal of writing 5 days a week, so the consistency requirement resonates well.
So…off I go. Up and up!
Update: After only 12 hours of participating in the Yakezie Challenge, my Alexa rating has improved from 11.7 million to 9.1 million! I will keep updating this improvement!

Hey Thad, nice to meet you! My Alexa went from 7.5 million to 738k in like two weeks. I think if you stay active on others’ sites and on Yakezie forums, you’ll do well.
John, the first night’s Alexa change was incredible! But it hasn’t moved since then! Yikes! Don’t really know what that means! Any ideas? Have you had days of no movement at all?
