May 25th is Geek Pride Day. Nerds and geeks from across the nation celebrate on May 25th to commemorate the release of the first Star Wars movie way back when.
According to WikiPedia, Geek Pride day had its start through a geeky festival started in 1999 by Tim McEachern at a bar in Albany, NY. By 2008, the celebration of nerdness had spread to Spain, and then on to the Internet, with the crowning achievement being the official recognition of the day by that geekiest of cable channels, The Science Channel. This happened in 2009.
By 2010, the event had spread to many cities across the globe.

I LOVE STAR WARS! I had no idea there was a national nerd day, that awesome.
Hmmm, guess I’m a nerd for not knowing about Nat’l nerd day! I still remember vividly the first time I saw Star Wars IV (only back then it was just Star Wars) – the first and BEST episode of that series. It brought a wave of hope and optimism that we lacked in those times.
I have seen only one of the prequels and I agree with you completely!
Glad that you openly admit you’re a geek! lol. JK.
I never even knew this existed.
That’s me (or at least a part of me!). I didn’t know it existed until a couple of weeks ago.
