I never quite feel like Google “gets it” when it comes to social networking.

Yes, they are fantastic engineers, and they have done some pretty amazing things to leverage search.

But at the end of the day, their social efforts feel like Microsoft: both are made by engineers for other engineers, and they forget most people using their products aren’t engineers (Google just seems to have younger engineers than Microsoft).

Google+ has a lot of potential. It doesn’t have a critical mass of people I need to talk to yet, but there is a lot of SEO benefits, and it keeps growing! Soon enough it will be a must stop every day.

In terms of usability, I still am not totally sold on Google +. But in terms of it helping with SEO, I am all for it! I wish I didn’t have to check/monitor/update two separate social networking pages constantly, but having a Google + account does seem to pay off in other areas.
